New “Users” widget: show off your profile

September 29th, 2009   No Comments

As you probably noticed, the new release contains some small changes in the “Users” panel. We switched from a single window to a tabbed window and we are now spotting the best profiles using the profile-rank.

If you want to jump in homepage, just update your profile and promote yourself.

The Users panel now contains users with the highest profile rank and latest users.

In the latest Seshamo version, released this morning, we have completely redesigned the user page providing the ability to search for a given user by either username or real name.

Write a new Article

September 17th, 2009   No Comments

Writing a new article is now even more easy! We just rolled out some changes in our internal database structure and now you can start writing a new article from virtually any Seshamo page. You no longer need to run a search, just click the orange button at the top of the page.

Write Article Tab

If you search for a topic and your query doesn’t match any results, then you can consider writing an article directly from the search page. Just click the “Start writing an Article” button and Seshamo will bring you to the editing section and autocomplete the keyword field with your search query.

User profile permalinks

September 9th, 2009   No Comments

As part of our continued efforts to improve Seshamo user experience, a couple of weeks ago we released a new update including the human-readable URL feature (aka permalink aka pretty url) for all user profiles.

All user pages now include the username in the URL instead of a meaningless user id.

Old user profile URLs permanently redirect to the new profile page so that old URLs won’t be broken.

The migration has been successfully completed. If you encounter any problem with the new URL, please contact us.

Back in May (aaargh, it’s about 3 months ago!) Benedetto talked about a very cool new homepage we were working on. That’s not completely true: in fact, we started from the homepage and we ended up revamping the full website.

The process took over 4 months spent creating mockups, running tests and refactoring the application. We released Seshamo 3.0 at the beginning of July with the cool new homepage and tons of new features.

What people say about Seshamo

December 15th, 2008   No Comments

Since we went live a couple of weeks ago, many sites talked about Seshamo. We’re received really positive feedback and we just want to share a couple of them with you.

KillerStartups wrote

Seshamo is a new search engine that hopes to give its users better results than other related tools. [...]
As a conclusion, Seshamo has the potential to modify the way people have habitually sought information on the web by providing all the corresponding resources in the same spot. Check it out for yourself at Seshamo.com.

Feedmyapp created the following review

Seshamo has been created to give you the possibility to get relevant results by much more sources and in different formats in a single page, when searching a specific matter rather than a product or a service.

and the same review has been published by Listio.

Seshamo is actually available in 5 different languages and we’ve received international feedback too! For instance, Geekissimo published a nice Italian review.

Seshamo, share your knowledge

November 26th, 2008   No Comments

We have built Seshamo with aim to offer a tool that will help users in their searches, and at same time allow them to share tips, links and know-how about.

How many times we try to search for a topic, digging through classic search engines, video sharing sites, wikipedia, and so on…well now we may share our findings with other users and if, after all, we feel experts, we may write a guide and start a discussion about it.

Seshamo is not a full search engine (like google.com), nor a reference book (wikipedia.com), not even a bookmark sharing service (like del.icio.us), most of all is a platform for real people.

We are going to keep you updated with the latest news from our community, new features, general updates, editing guidelines and you’ll be able to meet the people behind Seshamo.
